Oral Surgery

As an expert oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Ostro manages and treats a wide variety of problems related to the entire oral cavity. His treatments include, but are not limited to, surgical extractions, wisdom tooth removal, uncovering impacted, unerupted teeth, apicoectomies, bone grafting, sinus lifts, soft tissue surgeries, periodontal surgery and implant placement.

Tooth Extractions

When tooth removal is necessary, we can perform simple and surgical extractions using local anesthesia or IV sedation. If you choose, we can also replace the missing teeth with dental implants. read more...

Implant Dentistry

We can create an implant for a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or to replace a removable appliance. read more...

Periodontal Surgery

Periodontal disease progresses as the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and gums gets filled with bacteria, plaque, and tartar causing irritation to the surrounding tissues. When these irritants remain in the pocket, they cause infection and damage to the gums and eventually, the bone that supports the teeth. If the disease has progressed to a more advanced stage, where the infection has caused bone loss and diseased pockets have formed, your treatment options may include periodontal surgery. Dr. Ostro is fully equipped to perform this type of surgery and this procedure has saved thousands of questionable teeth with poor prognosis for many years.

Bone Grafting

Before dental implant surgery, bone grafting is sometimes necessary to supplement the bone mass of the patient's jaw so that the implants can be anchored firmly. The graft not only replaces missing bone, but also helps your body to regenerate its own bone. This new bone growth strengthens the grafted area by forming a bridge between your existing bone and the graft material. Over time your own newly formed bone will replace much of the grafted material. This gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, and it also gives us a chance to more effectively restore aesthetic appearance and functionality.
